Love is…

It’s been said that love to a teen is spelled “T…I….M….E”

No question about that being true. What else have you found to be helpful in communicating love to teens?

  1. Sarah D. says:

Taking people seriously communicates love. Telling a twelve year old girl who’s deeply in like with a boy that it’s possible this isn’t “the one” isn’t necessarily a good way to love her. Walking alongside through the experience might be better.

  2. Agree with Sarah. To communicate your own love to teens, ask them questions about specific aspects and events in their lives, and then carefully listen to their responses, commenting accordingly. To communicate the nature of love itself, likewise do not lecture, but Socraticly employ questions about why they care for a particular person and what that means to them. Rather than highlight deficiencies in their perceptions, try to help them self-expose growth areas.
